Learn to fly with us

Learning to become a helicopter pilot is an incredibly fun and challenging adventure.

Whether you want to fly for fun or as a career, the staff at Advanced Helicopter Concepts will do everything we can to help you realize your goal. We are committed to providing all students with quality, comprehensive training in a friendly atmosphere where safety and excellence are always top priorities. We are not a "pilot factory". Instead, you will receive individualized and personal instruction enabling you to become a safe and proficient pilot. And we will accommodate whatever pace is right for you.

Our location at the Frederick Municipal Airport (KFDK) in Frederick, MD offers an excellent training environment. Our helicopter practice area is right at the airport. This means you can practice flight maneuvers like hovering, taxiing, takeoffs, landings, and autorotations without having to travel to another location. You will save time and money training here with AHC.

Frederick Municipal Airport is a non-towered general aviation airport. You will learn the basics of helicopter flying in a busy, but friendly environment. More complex class B, D, and ADIZ airspace is only a few miles away when the time is right for you to experience it with your flight instructor.

We use the Robinson R22 and R44 helicopters as our primary trainers. These helicopters are the most popular training helicopters in the world. The R22 and R44 are safe, reliable, and very responsive platforms. We also offer helicopter instrument training in our R22 IFR Trainer.

Let's focus on making your dream come true. Call today for an intro flight with one of our flight instructors. Experience for yourself the magic of vertical flight.
